Tools and Hardware Reviews of Shop-Vac 9650600 3.0-Peak HP Pro Series Wet or Dry Vacuum, 6-GallonCustomer Review: I would not be without it! Summary: 5 Stars
Next to my upright vacuum, there two other cleaning implements I would not be without - my small shop vac and my H20 Steam Mop. I have owned the smaller 1.5 HP version of this shop-vac for at least 10, absolutely trouble-free years and use it almost daily. While shopping for replacement bags, I saw this item and immediately ordered it. The 1.5 HP has proven to be a real workhorse. This one can only be twice as good! The 1.5 has power and suction. My primary reason for buying the 1.5 was to clean up kitty litter from my laundry room. Worked great - still does. Then I started using it to vacuum my vinyl floors in the kitchen, mudroom, powder room and lanudry room. What a gem! Drop spaghetti or rice on the floor? Forget the broom - grab this little vac. Spill the coffee grinds on the floor - pull out the shop vac. Does a beautiful job of getting up EVERYTHING. Makes using the H20 mop much better because you should sweep the floor first before using the mop, of course. It is much easier to move around than my large upright vacuum, and all the attachments for the upright also fit the shop vac. I even bought a vacuum attachment made specifically for cleaning up pet fur and that fits the shop vac nozzle as well and works better. Used with the shop vac, this pet hair attachment is great for getting fur from between furniture and against walls, etc., and all the places and on all the things cats love to curl up on and nap. Gets all that fine hair and dander (that you can't see) that loves to "migrate" into corners. It works fantastic on carpeting as well as furniture, and underneath cushions, etc. I think one of the reasons my friends with allergies are comfortable in our house is because this vac helps get up all that invisible dander. Cleans up all the dirt, sand and other little stuff the dog (and my husbands work boots) drag in. Nothing much escapes this little guy! Great to vacuum matresses as well.
The 1.5 HP has served me faithfully and now that I have purchased the 3.0 HP, the smaller one will be relegated to the lower level which includes family room area, craft room, and two storage rooms with cement floors. Great on cement dust! The new one will takes up its station upstairs. It is easy to transport and lift if necessary. Attach an 25 foot indoor/outdoor extension cord and viola - it will follow you anywhere. Cleans refrigerator grates and underneath with ease; cleans dryer filter and surrounding areas with ease and gets behind the dryer, too; cleans tile floors in bathroom and gets up hair and dust in corners other appliances miss; with attachments, fantastic for corners and mouldings; brush head cleans ceiling fans and above doors without dust falling on everything; cleans berber carpeting on stairs beautifully; even with daily use, bags hold a lot and lasts a long time. I even drag it out on the front porch and on the deck to clean up debris and pine needles that fall from the trees from our wooded yard. What's a broom? Too much like manual labor for me. Gets all that small stuff out from between the deck floor you can't get out any other way in no time at all.
Worth the money ten times over. I threw away my Swiffer vac - sorry guys - didn't cut it for pet fur. Nothing beats this little champ and the money you save not having to buy replacement cloths pays for the shop vac in no time. Never regretted adding this little workhorse to the family of shop vacs we aleady own. This is the one I use most and I truly would be lost without it. Today I ordered a replacement caster for the wheel I broke when I accidentally dropped it (after 10 years!) and so it is hobbling around on three wheels - stil works fine! Hey, it's a shop vac, I shouldn't have to tell you the hundreds of uses you will find for it. After years of devoted service and being together, I have jokingly given my 1.5 a name - R2D2. Looks just like the Star Wars character, doesn't it? I try maintain my sense of humor regarding house cleaning!
