This attaches a 1.5" hose to a 2.5" inch attachment or dust-port. Since the hose fits inside the attachment, this will not allow you to attach a 2.5" host to a 1.5" attachment or dust port. For example, this will not attach a shop-vac hose to a machine with a 1.5" dust port.Customer Review: Good Fitting To Have Around

Can't say that this fitting has any specific uses but if you have a Craftsman or ShopVac it's great to have around to adapt to different tools.Customer Review: Really won't fit either end

I have a regular shop-vac and a 10" hitachi miter saw. This converter has exactly the same sizes on both ends. They won't fit for any ways. You will need 2-1/4 to 1-1/4 converter and I have ordered it to see.
